Mapics XA6 to SAP ECC 6 Data Conversion(ETL) Project Backgrounder

The goal of the project was to convert Mapics XA 6 legacy data into a format suitable for loading into  SAP ECC 6.

We decided to scrub the data on the AS400 whenever possible.  This involved creating a series of Queries, RPG free form, and CL programs to parse and modify the data. This step used the power of the AS400 to combine and format the data before it was downloaded to Excel 2003. Once the data was prescreened on the AS400, it was transferred to Excel 2003.  Excel 2003 macros were created to further process the data.  The end result was a text file that could be loaded in SAP using the LSMW tool.
